Shockflash Networks v2.0

It's So Much Fun!

It’s So Much Fun

I suppose one of the inevitable questions to ask about Shockflash is, why? It is a question deserving an answer.

So, why? I know that few people will ever read this response [you are a rare breed to be reading this right now], and yet I feel motivated to answer it. Shockflash began in 2003 simply as a shared personal website between Adam and Paul [myself]. It grew and grew, gathered upwards of 70,000 hits per month, and then declined, fell, rebuilt itself numerous times after falling numerous times further, and alas, here we are. We’re on revision four or five at this point, possibly six or seven. The problems? Vacations, limited user base, limited time to manage the website and make content, ‘hackers’ and a variety of other difficulties. So why, after all this, and about 5 hits per month, have I restored it once again?

I’ve found that I can’t leave Shockflash. It was too entertaining to make. I want others to be able to experience what can be done with a little time and creativity. I’d love to continue the website, make it a worldwide conglomerate of fun and festivities, but that will never happen [at least not with the amount of work I have]. All of the content on this website [with the exception of a few Binmaker tunes on the Music page] were made three or more years ago. Most Flash work was made four or five years ago. Too much effort went into those productions to strip them of their potential to be shared. I’m well aware no one is going to seek out Reeve Chaser for another rousing round of chasing Reeve, but it is painful for me to think that no one could chase Reeve if they truly wanted to. Shockflash in its current stage is a showcase of former work; I do not believe anything new will be added. But it will make me happier to know that there is a showcase to be had. The work Adam and I put into this site will not have entirely disappeared and faded away into the murky darkness of the Internet. It will be here, for the curious soul on his meandering journey for entertainment. And what will he find? He will find himself murmuring quietly, “It’s So Much Fun…”
